The latest fashionplate features the Tasch Mia oversized sweater at midtown steakhouse Butcher and Banker. Made a ressie here with the boo for a weekday dinner around 7 and it was crowded. Although the vault was closed for a private corporate party. Also note that you have to walk through the New Yorker hotel to access the restaurant which is interesting to say the least. We were seated and I started with the Scotch and Bubbles which was an intriguing drink. They Parker house type rolls they give to start are very good and we also got shrimp cocktail which was good. I then switched to red wine for my steak. For entrees he got the veal chop which came with mushrooms which he enjoyed. I got a filet rare Oscar style, which so good and came with asparagus. I love the mini surf and turf combo of my steak with crab. We also go sautéed spinach and the duck fat potatoes, which was like a delicious giant latke/hashbrown hybrid. The food was great. However the ambience left a bit to be desired, service felt rushed and it catered to a tourist/theater crowd. Was so many other amazing steakhouses in New York we probably won’t be back. See how I styled this fashionplate below.
This week’s fashionplate features our brand new Fall/Winter 2016/17 eyelash sweater at the new Batali resto in the Maritime Hotel. I love going to places that are close to my apartment and have been wanting to check out La Sirena for a while. After an event I was starving and in need of wine and we found ourselves at the luxe spacious bar sipping some wine while waiting for a table to open up. Once we were seated my dining companion and I decided to try a few things. We started with the fresh buricotta which is a decadent and creamy cheese that melted in my mouth. We also got the crudo which was standard and fresh. I’m a pasta/carb whore so I had to go in for it and get at least two. The cavatelli with spare ribs was hearty and delicious. We also adored the panzotti with leeks, cheese and a brown butter sauce, totally my kind of pasta dish. We rounded the meal out with the duck breast medium rare which was also great. All in all it was a great Italian meal where I needed to be carted out of the resto, thank god it’s a short walk home. I definitely will be back to check out brunch outside now that it’s getting warmer.
This place gets packed so if you don’t want to wait I would make a reservation even though it’s a large space. The crowd is lots of trendy twenty and thirty-somethings plus some older business dinners and tourists. Definitely dress to impress. See how I styled this fashionplate below.
This week’s fashionplate features our oversized cozy Mia sweater. Since I’m uber petite I decided to rock it as a dress/tunic. You can see all the OOTD below. I’ve been wanting to to check out Mother of Pearl for a while so after an afternoon of holiday shopping and an early dinner we decided to head down to the East Village for some more cocktails. We started with some shark bites which come in these adorable shark shaped glasses. These were good and stronger than expected. We also did some of their Chewy shots which are similar to fireball, clearly we were looking to get turnt before ten. They had some speciality holiday cocktails as well so i went with a gingerbread hot toddy that came in an adorable skull mug. Clearly I’m all about the novelty tiki glasses. Next time I definitely will check out some of the snacks. The bartenders and waitresses were friendly and the bar and tables are super cute. A great addition to an area I already frequent, Miss Lily’s 7A is my summer jam at least 3 times a month lol.
Since this was during the holidays and on the early side of the evening it wasn’t very crowded, a mix of young locals and trendier tourists. See the OOTD for this fashionplate below.

Of course leave it to me to get sick right before fashion week. Today is the first day I’m not completely on bedrest so wanted to get the latest’s fashionplate up while playing catch up. Stay tuned for some revised fashion week news from Tasch in the next few days too! As we all know I love my friend chicken, so on a cold afternoon before I got uber sick I decided to catch up with a friend at the newest outpost of Pies&Thighs on Canal Street. The space is a super cute and tiny lunch counter. I’m basically a mini me at 5’1″ so I’m not sure how larger people eat here comfortably, but whatevs I was comfy in my little booth. I decided to get the fried chicken box with cheese grits. The fried chicken was juicy and tender and came with 3 pieces of chicken, an amazing biscuit and the cheese grits were just okay I would try the mac&cheese next time. My friend the chicken biscuit which was also super delish.
Now on to the fashion part of the fashionplate. Pies&Thighs attracts families with children, old time locals, as well as fans of the Williamsburg outpost who live in Manhattan and don’t feel like making the trek across the bridge. As this is a casual place I decided to rock my ultra comfy grey open weave oversized sweater from my new F/W15 line.
