The latest fashionplate features the Tasch Mia oversized sweater at midtown steakhouse Butcher and Banker. Made a ressie here with the boo for a weekday dinner around 7 and it was crowded. Although the vault was closed for a private corporate party. Also note that you have to walk through the New Yorker hotel to access the restaurant which is interesting to say the least. We were seated and I started with the Scotch and Bubbles which was an intriguing drink. They Parker house type rolls they give to start are very good and we also got shrimp cocktail which was good. I then switched to red wine for my steak. For entrees he got the veal chop which came with mushrooms which he enjoyed. I got a filet rare Oscar style, which so good and came with asparagus. I love the mini surf and turf combo of my steak with crab. We also go sautéed spinach and the duck fat potatoes, which was like a delicious giant latke/hashbrown hybrid. The food was great. However the ambience left a bit to be desired, service felt rushed and it catered to a tourist/theater crowd. Was so many other amazing steakhouses in New York we probably won’t be back. This week’s fashionplate features our Donna ribbon trim cami at Bar Gonzo. I met a friend at Bar Gonzo for happy hour on National Margarita day. By now you should know I love tequila and more specifically margaritas. It was a rainy, dreary day so the bar wasn’t super crowded and we ended up getting a table to catch up. I of course ordered a yuzu shiso margarita which was great. She stuck to vodka sodas because she is on the bride diet. They gave us complimentary fried green bananas which were good and similar to plantain chips but fresh and homemade. We got the pizza of the day which had tomato sauce, mozzarella and pesto and was a similar to a French bread pizza. It reminded me of my fav after school snack as a kid and was delish. We also got the beef skewers which were good but a small portion. I stuck the marg for my drinkies and she stuck with her vodka sodas. Their happy hour specials are great and the space is trippy and cool and Hunter S Thompson inspired. See all the ootd and meal deets for this fashionplate below.
The latest fashionplate features our Natalie blouse at Street Taco. Met one of the girls here for an overdo catch up session over our fav mexican food. When we arrived here on a Thursday evening after 8pm it was packed and she snagged two seats at the bar so we ordered some margs while waiting for our table. They have a cute little taco truck in the back of the restaurant. We started with the nachos which were our favorite part of the meal- a sheet tray full of cheese covered chips and all the goodies. Of course we got more margs and we also got 2 tacos each. We both got the chorizo which was solid. I also got the blackened fish which was kinda lackluster. She enjoyed her pork belly taco a lot. The crowd skewed young with fresh out of college young professionals of the bro variety. Would go back for happy hour but so many other Mexican places around so not at the top of our list for a repeat. See how I styled this fashionplate below.
This week’s fashionplate features our Taylor buffalo check flannel at the garment district’s Rag Trader. Met my sister here for an end of the week catch up on a cold day, so layers were key. I got there first and settled into their tufted green banquettes. I love all the old Vogues on display and various old garment factory items, that’s what I geek out to as a fashion designer. People were just getting there for happy hour so of course I ordered a glass of Cab. Once my sister arrived we decided to split a few things. Our least favorite thing on the menu was the shaved apple salad, it wasn’t bad just a bit too salty for our taste. The fried chicken sliders were good just wish they came with more than 2. We loved the siracha deviled eggs they had a nice quick to them. The star of the meal was the speck pizza, it was so good we forced ourselves to finish it all. Next time I’ll have to save room for dessert-drunken donuts yum. Feel free to dress casual or come in your after work garb. The crowd skews from people who work in the area and tourists. The latest fashionplate features our Riri cropped sweater at my birthday brunch at the Loyal! I had a bday dinner with the boo at Raoul’s and another girls bday dinner at Dos Caminos. But had to get in a fashion plate for the girls bday brunch and check out someplace new. It was fairly crowded for a late Saturday brunch before Christmas and we decided to to get cocktails and raw bar to start. Cocktails were cute and served adorably and were most importantly delish. We got oysters and lobster cocktails both which were great. I split the burger with one of my girlies and it was so yummy. The duck fat tots it came with were unreal. Since it was my bday the gay bestie insisted we get the Sundae set and candy shop and do yourself a favor if you’re with a group get this dessert even if it’s just for the gram or polaroid. I ended up switching from specialty cocktails to a martini at a certain point during brunch because it was my bday and I wanted to get turnt. Shout out to our lovely server Iris, she’s the bomb. See how I styled this fashionplate and all the OOTD deets below.
The latest fashionplate features our repurposed Jane’s Addiction vintage tee at a holiday lunch with my mom and sister at Maison Pickle. We decided to quick start dry January in December and stick to carb loading. It’s all about balance right? We got the fried chicken and challah french toast and it was delish and SO MUCH food. So yum. We also got the small sized mac & cheese and it was also rich and decadent. And last but not least we got the Deluxe french dip that had a gruyere fondue which was also amazing. We couldn’t finish all of the food and left ready to walk off our meal and shop the holiday markets and Saks and Bergdorfs. For a late lunch the restaurant was half full. Next time I want to sit in the secluded booth where I think some rapper and his entourage were eating. Not cool anymore to know every rapper :-( See how I styled this fashionplate and all the ootd deets here.
The latest fashionplate features our Katy leopard print chiffon blouse at the longest bar in NYC- Oscar Wilde. Met a girlfriend here for cocktails and apps after work one day. The bar and all the tables were crowded but I was lucky enough to snag two seats at the second bar. We tried a few cocktails, my favorite being the Smoked Old Fashion. We also split the bangers in a blanket and the buffalo cauliflower both which were indulgent bar eats. We liked this place and the crowds started to die down a bit after 8pm. Running around the city in Tasch NYC band tee, Bebe leather moto jacket, Blank NYC vegan leather leggings, H&M ankle booties and YSL medium Kate black purse. Photography by Meghan Asselta.
This week is devoted to the classic Rock & Roll band tee. I worked with designer Tasch on this post. I just love her stuff since she repurposes a classic band tee. In this look she has added holes and burnt others into the oversized black Nirvana tee I’m wearing. I styled it with my Blank NYC vegan leather leggings, H&M metallic ankle booties and Bebe leather moto jacket, finishing it off with my new YSL medium Kate purse in all black.
I love the way a band tee can add edge to any outfit, and since this t-shirt is oversized I wanted to pair it with a legging and jacket and add an ankle boot. The all black edge gets funky with a metallic boot which is a huge trend at the moment. This classic yet edgy look is timeless.
This week’s fashionplate features our Brigitte self tie halter at Public Kitchen. My bestie who became a wifey and moved to Connecticut was visiting and we decided to spend the night down in LES like we used to 5 years ago and go bar hopping. We decided to start off at Public Hotel to have civilized drinks and fortify our stomachs for a long night of drinking. We sat at the bar as it was the weekend and ordered some wine. We split the tuna tartare which was delish and we also split margarita pizza which was also good. We enjoyed the scene, went upstairs and that off into the night. See how we styled this fashionplate below.
This week’s fashionplate features our satin Janis shorts at the new vegan/ veggie spot ABC V. I went here for brunch with a gf and we sat at the bar as it was already packed at noon. We both started with delish matcha coladas. We then decided to splitzies some eats. We got the sambal and cheddar dosa and omg so delish. We also go the gluten free almond pancakes which were great, the little beaker with maple syrup was adorbs too. The fingerling potatoes were great as well. I added a cold brew because we all know I need my caffeine. This spot was so yummy and it was a mix of girl gangs and couples and families. I definitely will be back to try dinner. See how I styled this fashionplate below.
Check out the latest fashionplate featuring our Natalie blouse at Fatbird. Met a sorority sister from college here for a catch up dinner because we both moved fatty food and cute little spots. I got here first and was pleasantly informed that they had happy hour specials going on still. Score. Buy one get one free drinks and half off apps and sides. I went with one of the specialty cocktails which while adorable are too sweet for my taste. We also got the mac and cheese and pork belly to start. Both were fab. We then got half a bird nashville hot style and switched to wine. For sides we got the collard greens and the cheddar waffle. We loved the nashville hot chicken so yummy but the sides were a meh. However the biscuits the chicken came with were amazing. Come for mac, and apps and chicken. Skip the overly sweet drinks and lackluster sides. The service is great and the play great music plus it’s not too crowded on a weekday night. See how I styled this fashionplate below.
Check out the latest fashionplate featuring our customized repurposed Pink Floyd vintage tee at Seamore’s in Chelsea. Met the girlies here for a weekday catchup dinner on one of those in between summer days. I love the original Nolita location so was stoked when they opened a location in my hood. It took a while to get a table so we got some wine in the cute downstairs speakeasy. Once we were seated we ordered more wine and split the mac and cheese which was yummy. Then I got the seared fish burrito which was good and came with a great kale salad. One of my friends got the veggie version of this. My last gf got the seared scallops special which looked delish. All in all it was yummy dinner and I’ll be back. Tip make a res or come early. See how I styled this fashionplate below.
Check out a brunchtime fashionplate featuring our Goldie bodysuit at Pig Bleecker. For a catch up brunch with the bestie we decided to finally check out Pig. I got a Bleecker Southside and a cold brew to drink because you know I’m a trap queen, errr beverage queen. We then decided to splitzies a bunch of things. The pigs in doughnuts weren’t as good as we expected. However everything else was great. The veal meatballs were tender and flavorful with lots of sauce and cheese. The mac and cheese with goldfish was pretty bomb. We also dug the burger and fries. All in all a fatty meal that required a leisurely walk home. See how I styled this fashionplate below.
This week’s fashionplate features our navy polka dot maxi skirt at Aroqa in Chelsea. I love the simplicity of the our chiffon side slit maxi skirt on a hot summer day so thought it was perfect to meet a friend to catch up over drinks. Aroqa looked cute and is an Indian fusion spot in the hood. It was pretty empty on Thursday evening and we sat at the bar. Their specialty cocktails are amazing. I had one with dry ice and then opted for another one for my second cocktail. My friend also enjoyed her cocktails as well. I will be back to try food. Check out how I styled this fashionplate below.
Check out the latest fashionplate featuring our Goldie bodysuit at Motel Morris. I have been trying to check out more local places in the hood lately and have been wanting to eat at Motel Morris for a while. We ended up grabbing seats at the bar as the place was pretty jammed for a Tuesday night. We started with some wine and decided to split a bunch of things. The pimento cheese deviled eggs were delish and had a bit of spice added to them. We also had to get the fries which were great. The potato and cheddar pierogies were also yummy and had lobster and mushrooms with it. We were in between getting the burger and the skirt steak and ended up with the skirt steak. It had a gruyere fondue which was absolutely delish. I loved the cute decor of the place and the bathrooms totally reminded me of LA, kitschy and cute and pink. See how I styled this fashionplate below.
Check out the latest fashionplate featuring our repurposed customized vintage AC/DC tee at While We Were Young. One of my girlfriends and me have been wanting to check this place out for a while so we decided on going to brunch at noon in order to snag a table. It’s a super cute spot in the West Village and we love the pink and pastel vibes going on here. We started with iced coffees and cocktails. My friend got the While We Were Young and I got the Bradford’s Mistress which was not too sweet and slightly smokey. Both are super gorg shades of pink to boot. We both got the truffle omelet which was very good. As expected it was mostly girls, I wouldn’t drag my man here. I think their was one bf who was being a good trooper. But definitely a girls catchup spot in my book. See how I styled this fashionplate below.
Check out this week’s fashionplate featuring our white eyelet shorts at the new midtown location of Mad Dog & Beans. I love mexican and I love the downtown location of this spot for happy hour. Sat at the bar and ordered there delish margs and the nachos. I love that their nachos because each chip has beans and lots of cheese on it, so good I kind of want more as I’m writing this. Our bartender Chrissy was so sweet and nice. She was the only one working that day and it was quite busy but she always had a smile. There are a lot of suits here so I was dressed a little too trendy but see how I styled this fashionplate below.
Check out the latest fashionplate at Empire Diner featuring our knit Farrah romper. Empire Diner has been around forever but has constantly changed owners. Now it is owned by the Cafeteria Group so naturally loving their mac and cheese I needed to check out for brunch with the boy. It was sticky humid day so I opted for our Farrah knit romper with crochet back for this fashionplate. We were seated immediately. They were out of the green juice so instead I got a red juice which was still good and detoxifying. He got the smoothie which wasn’t sweet enough for him. The burger looked sick on instagram, I know I’m millennial, shoot me. However it wasn’t very seasoned, I really wanted it to be amazeballs. The fries were solid though. He got the omelette which was just meh for him. Our service was a bit slow too. There were mostly couples and some groups of girls and families. See how I styled this fashionplate below:
This week’s fashionplate features our Jacqueline striped kimono at one of my fav mini chains Mexicue. Went here for lunch and sat at the bar and I had to order the Spiked Palmero which is delish, bourbon spiked iced tea with limeade so good. I love their queso so I had to get there, fab as always. Their menu has changed to smaller portions which I kind of dig. I got the spicy brisket enchilada which was cheesy and spicy right up my ally. I was dressed a little risque for the lunch crowd but it was hot out so whatevs. I’ll definitely be back for their happy hour. See how rocked this fashionplate below. Shout out to the friendly bartender Mario!
The latest fashionplate features our Chambray shirtdress at Gallo de Oro. Got some margs and Mexican here after a day of sourcing, an early dinner of sorts. We ended up eating outside. Of course I had to get a margarita and it was happy hour, so cheap and strong. We started with some queso which was bit too liquidy for my taste but I ate it anyway because I don’t let cheese go to waste. We got the chicken quesadillas which needed more cheese. The chorzio tacos were the best thing we got. This place wasn’t very crowded so maybe my fault for going here. This place was meh, so many other mexican places have better food than here plus outdoor seating. See how I styled my fashionplate below.
