The latest fashionplate features the Tasch Mia oversized sweater at midtown steakhouse Butcher and Banker. Made a ressie here with the boo for a weekday dinner around 7 and it was crowded. Although the vault was closed for a private corporate party. Also note that you have to walk through the New Yorker hotel to access the restaurant which is interesting to say the least. We were seated and I started with the Scotch and Bubbles which was an intriguing drink. They Parker house type rolls they give to start are very good and we also got shrimp cocktail which was good. I then switched to red wine for my steak. For entrees he got the veal chop which came with mushrooms which he enjoyed. I got a filet rare Oscar style, which so good and came with asparagus. I love the mini surf and turf combo of my steak with crab. We also go sautéed spinach and the duck fat potatoes, which was like a delicious giant latke/hashbrown hybrid. The food was great. However the ambience left a bit to be desired, service felt rushed and it catered to a tourist/theater crowd. Was so many other amazing steakhouses in New York we probably won’t be back. Check out this week’s fashionplate featuring our Natalie blouse at American Cut Midtown. Everyone who knows me I love red meat, so on a recent night out on the town we decided to have dinner at the newer location of American Cut in midtown. This space is quite large and we started off with martinis by the bar while waiting for our table to be ready. We then split West Coast oysters which were delish. We then split the ribeye medium rare and mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Everything was good, a decadent fall time meal. There were a lot of business types here do to the proximity to a lot of the fiance set offices. There were also a few dates. See how I styled our Natalie blouse for this fashionplate below.
This week’s fashionplate features our gorg new Linda leather trimmed romper from the new Spring/Summer 2016 line at the new hot spot Black Barn in the old SD26 space. Clearly from my pictures you can tell they take their wine seriously too! My dining companion and I ordered some cocktails to start, I started with Pear necessity which was refreshing while my companion got a Jack and coke. We decided to split a few things for our dinner. The black mission fig pizza was delish and a great fall starter. We also ended up getting the cheese souffle which was phenomenal- decadent, rich and creamy. We ended up switching to a nice Malbec before our split entree. We got the strip loin medium rare which was decent but not my favorite. I wanted to try the branzino but I had just had it for dinner the night before so alas we went with steak. We also got a side of the fingerling potatoes which were pretty dope. We wanted to finish things on a sweet note and were not disappointed with our waiter’s recommendation of the chocolate caramel bar. It is reminiscent of Illili’s candy bar dessert- YUMMY!
The service was great. Now on to the fashion part of this fashionplate, there were a lot of suits on a Thursday night probably due to the proximity of Credit Suisse etc. So lots of business dinners and more locals in the bar area. See the complete OOTD deets below to see how I made our Linda romper fall approps with a cute little fishtail braid!
This week’s fashionplate is at Hunt&Fish Club, a new midtown steak emporium. Since I was going out afterwards I wore something a little more fun, our blue and white Joan silk romper with an exposed back zipper! The marbled floors and mirrored walls added a very Wolf of Wall Street vibe and really opened up the space. My dining companion and I had a res here on a Saturday night which definitely needed as the place was packed. I was running late as I had a friend in town and was pleased to find that we had a comfy booth in the back. A very dirty, very dry Ketel martini was waiting for me which made me a happy girl. We then split some west coast oysters that were very good. More drinks were ordered and then we settled on sharing the boneless rib eye medium rare, macaroni & cheese, and the mashed potatoes. Everything was super yummy, although no one can touch Peter Lugers and Strip House when it comes to my favorite steak ever, but this steak was juicy and tender. The mac&cheese and mashed potatoes were both super decadent. We decided to forgo dessert as I had to get myself to Tippler and Rose Bar.
There were a lot of older couples and suburban types from the tristate area as it is a spot in midtown on a Saturday night, so some of the fashion choices were slightly questionable but made for fun people watching. See the full ootd fashionplate deets below.
The first of 4 birthday related fashionplates is our timeless Bianca top at the new steakhouse Bowery Meat Company. One of the besties took me here for my bday and we waited at the marble bar having some bday champs- Veuve, while waiting for our table to become ready. We decided to dive right in and split a bunch of items. The broiled oysters were almost as dope as Dirty French and we were thankful we were not on a romantic date as we were loving the extra garlic. The foie gras was creamy and decadent but not as heavy as usual which was a nice pleasant surprise!
We then opted for a nice red wine to complement the red meat that was coming. We split the Bowery Steak medium rare which was perfectly cooked and delish, we also split the sour cream hash browns which was amazing. We were super full but the lovely couple next to us ordered the pb&j bread pudding that was crazy big and filling. It was yummy and a great way to end our bestie bday meal.
The crowd had lots of young downtown hipsters, as well as older couples who looked fab for their age. Everyone was fun, and well dressed and coiffed. I only hope I can look that fab in 20 years. For the complete OOTD fashionplate deets check out below.
