Fashionplate- Polka dot maxi skirt at Aroqa

This week’s fashionplate features our navy polka dot maxi skirt at Aroqa in Chelsea.  I love the simplicity of the our chiffon side slit maxi skirt on a hot summer day so thought it was perfect to meet a friend to catch up over drinks.  Aroqa looked cute and is an Indian fusion spot in the hood.  It was pretty empty on Thursday evening and we sat at the bar.  Their specialty cocktails are amazing.  I had one with dry ice and then opted for another one for my second cocktail.  My friend also enjoyed her cocktails as well.  I will be back to try food.  Check out how I styled this fashionplate below.

4- What are your inspirations when you are creating ?

I try to gather as much information as I can from the customer, get a feel for what him or her is looking for on a custom cake, and then I try to translate all that information into a perfect cake, adding my personal touch when I see a fit.

Rodolfo has been featured in many competitions and wan a good amount of prizes with his creations. It is very motivational to see person succeed and get a chance to share his Wonderfull creations with the World. I am looking forward to see what is going to be his next creations.

For the shoot I was inspired by the end of summer and Sweet Corner’s bright and beautiful cakes colors. My first outfit was a belted baby blue dress with a bring pink statement necklace, and my second outfit was a light pink skirt with a sheer overlay and a blue bodysuit top with a deep v neckline. I paired the outfit with a thick choker featuring a girly flower in the middle! The outfits were provided by Tasch NYC. You can use the coupon code carla for 25% off.

Fashionplate- Patsy Maxi Dress at the Fillmore Room

fashionplate fillmore roomAs summer is winding down I’m trying to make the most of the warm weather and wear as many fun things before my wardrobe turns into all black everything.  This week’s fashionplate takes place at another new spot in my hood-The Fillmore Room, near the highline.  It was an unusually warm weeknight so I rocked our Patsy aztec inspired maxi dress with suede detail.    My bestie and I opted to sit inside so we would not sweat.

We decided to split a bunch of things probably over-ordered but whatevs.  I decided to cool of with the Strawberry Smash which was uber refreshing cocktail.  We started with half a dozen west coast oysters which were perfect on this sweltering day.  We then got the baked oysters Rockefeller which were delish and very decadent.   I loved the kale caesar.  We then totally overindulged and got the mac and cheese and special portobello fries which put us over the edge but were very yummy.

Now on to the fashion part of the fashionplate.  We went right before fashion week so there were some buyer dinners surrounding us, so bring your A game when coming here.  It wasn’t uber crowded however, this definitely seems like more of a wintertime spot with that great fireplace.  The waiter was uber attentive and sweet.  See the OOTD deets below and how I styled our Patsy dress.

Fashionplate- Raquel maxi skirt at La Gamelle

fashionplate la gamalleThis week’s fashionplate is a much more indulgent meal then the last few.  It was one of those cooler summer days so I opted for our Raquel maxi skirt and a decadent french meal at La Gamelle on Bowery.  This spot reminds me of a more casual not as crowded Pastis/Chereche Midi.  Had a very yummy Bordeaux.  My dining companion and both started with french onion soup, so yummy and comforting in this weather.  Check out the cheese on it.  We then proceeded to split some oysters and the whole grilled branzino with ratatouille and a side of fries.  The oysters were standard.  The branzino was tasty although we had deboned and there were still some tiny bones it.  The fries were addicting.  We then decided to yolo and get 2 desserts.  He has a serious sweet tooth.  We ended up getting the creme brulee and a chocolate mousse cake both of which were very yummy.  The crowd was very neighborhoody and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.  See the fashion part of the fashionplate with ootd deets below.

Fashionplate- Karen Maxi Skirt at Park Avenue Winter

fashionplate park avenue winterThis week’s Fashionplate is another birthday edition, yes I have amazing friends and family.  Thanks my loves.  I’ve always loved Park Avenue Winter (Spring/Summer/Autumn) when it was located on the Upper East Side, so when it closed and reopened in the old General Assembly space, I knew it was another hot spot in the making.  One of my besties and me went there on a weekday evening and were seated immediately with our res.  It looked gorgeous with all white everything contrasting with the sumptuous red banquettes.  White lace and pearls were overlaying and all the staff had cute aprons on that said Winter.

I started with the Road to Jericho cocktail that was gorg and had fig molasses in it and came in Copper mule mug.  We then proceeded to split the Steak Tartare Rossini and Winter Tarte Flambée For Two to start.  The steak tartare came on two toasts and had a foie gras and truffle garnish and was tasty although I wish they gave more tartare.  I can eat it by itself without the bread.  The tarte flambee was also delish and featured lardons, cheese and Brussels sprouts  with all sorts of accruments and was yummy but very large we couldn’t finish it all if we wanted our entree.  After that we switched to wine, I got a nice red.  We ended up doing splitsies again, see how I get what I want when it’s my birthday? Lol.  We split the Halibut with black truffles and a brioched egg that was buttery soft and delish.  Yes I like truffles on everything!  I was curious about the Chateaubriand but had dinner the next day at STK and didn’t want to overdo the red meat.  We also decided to get the side of potato latkes that were beyond crunchy and addicting.

road to jericho

Now on to the fashion part of the Fashionplate.  The crowd was different then when it was located on the UES, there were still older couples just not as many.  There happened to be a lot of big groups of Finance types, having holiday team dinners probably due to proximity to Credit Suisse and the like.  So think lots of suits and shift dresses.  I was a little out of place in my Boho inspired outfit but hey it was my bday week/month so yolo.

OOTD- Chiffon Maxi Skirt

ootd maxi skirt 2

So sad that summer is almost coming to an end, so had to make the most of this recent weather and head out to Montauk.  After a sufficient time laying by the pool I wanted to get dressed for the late afternoon into the night and not worry about changing but wanted to look approps at the Full Moon Beach party, then dinner and drinks at Moby’s and then late night dancing at Harbor Bar, so of course I thought my dreamy floaty chiffon skirt was just the thing to pull it together for the long haul.  A true triple duty outfit of the day OOTD. The half slip lining keeps everything in place and undercover while side slit keeps things sexy and the thick black elastic waistband makes it easy to put on and take off when you are wasted and tired, errr tired I mean.

Factory Friday

Factory Friday!  Spent Friday creating some beautiful new pieces for the upcoming fashion week in September.  Working on some great separates and one pieces in an array of comfy knit fabrics as well as sumptuous silks and tweeds.  There are some great little tanks, graphic tees, rompers, dresses, skirts, shorts and tops that we are working on.  The first step after sketching and sourcing is creating a pattern before the sewing process begins.   This requires a lot of math, patience and precision.  Check out some pix from this process.

Tasch Pop Up Shop Was Great

Thanks to everyone who came out to the pop up shop on Thursday at the LLS Fighting Leukemia with Fashion Event.  There was a great turn out, other cool vendors, refreshing skinny margaritas, and bumping music.  We raised some money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and our best seller that night was the You Can’t Sit with Us tee.  For anyone who missed the event we are extending free shipping until July 31!  Yay!  Check out some pix below of my friend and me selling at the event and my new custom chiffon maxi skirt available on special order.

Trim Shopping in the Garment District

Spring/Summer 2015 is already on everyone’s mind even though Spring 2014 hasn’t even begun.  Looking at all the fabrics and trims is one of my favorite things to do to gather inspiration for new items.  Trim shopping is just as important as fabric shopping. For S/S 2015 it’s all in the details.  I’m thinking exposed zippers and little stud details, neon, batik trim, lace, vintage inspired buttons and more.  Had a great time checking out some trim today in the garment district.  Stay tuned for more inspo and one of a kind items to come!  What are some trends you think will be big for S/S 2015?  Post your ideas in comments.
