The latest fashionplate features the Tasch black lace kimono at new hotspot Simon & the Whale at the Freehand Hotel. Reservations are hard to come by so we opted for an early res for drinks and dinner. I started with a Crazy Charlie cocktail which is similar to a margarita. My bestie got a martini. We wanted to have a few cocktails first before ordering food and enjoy our time but the waitress said we had to put the whole order in at once. Le sigh. We got some more drinks and then got the lamb carpaccio which was great and light on a hot day. We then decided to get the fish sandwich which the split for us. See how good it looks. Loved this unexpected choice. The fish wasn’t fried and was great with the sauce and slaw and bread. A great mix of flavors, the fries were also delish. The waitress was sweet and friendly. It wasn’t her fault the restaurant wanted to turn tables quickly. Want to check out the rooftop bar as well. See how styled this fashionplate below and all the meal details as well.
This week’s fashionplate features our Jacqueline striped kimono at one of my fav mini chains Mexicue. Went here for lunch and sat at the bar and I had to order the Spiked Palmero which is delish, bourbon spiked iced tea with limeade so good. I love their queso so I had to get there, fab as always. Their menu has changed to smaller portions which I kind of dig. I got the spicy brisket enchilada which was cheesy and spicy right up my ally. I was dressed a little risque for the lunch crowd but it was hot out so whatevs. I’ll definitely be back for their happy hour. See how rocked this fashionplate below. Shout out to the friendly bartender Mario!
This week’s fashionplate is the perfect summertime meal, featuring Hawaiian poke at Wisefish Poke. I decided to dress in layers and rock our Jacqueline kimono. Met a friend here for lunch on a sunny day and I decided to get the small West Swell bowl with zucchini noodles which featured ahi tuna. I also got a La Croix grapefruit sparkling water which was a refreshing compliment to my bowl. The crowd was a mix between casual and the start up work lunch crowd from the area. See how I styled our kimono for this fashionplate below.
If I die bury me inside the Louis store. Or inside Genuine Superette. Joking, kind of. I was mad hungry when I met a gf here for this week’s fashionplate. I nursed a glass of red wine while waiting for her and then I was finally able to order! I got the Spicy Smokehouse burger special that came with fries and a Tecante. Pretty good deal. The burger was delish and the fries were crispy and getting a practically free beer thrown in is never a bad thing. I also tried the emerald city cocktail, I love places that combine green juice and liquor. I definitely will be back. Afterwards we checked out Genuine Liquorette that is in the back and you kind of make your own cocktails, so fun. I was dressed cas for this girls night and rocked our Jacqueline striped kimono , see how I styled this fashionplate below.
This week’s fashionplate features our Eva lace kimono at L’amico. After a fun holiday afternoon with the fam we were famished and I know Italian food is something everyone likes. We abstained from drinking and just ordered Pellgrino and sodas. We proceeded to split a few things. The eggplant crostini was very good but we should’ve gotten two orders for 4 people. The roasted fall vegetables were amazing and satisfying. We then got two pizzas- the charred kale which was a little spicy and very tasty and a plain cheese pie that was also very good. We then got a special pasta with short ribs that was amazing. We ended to meal on a sweet note and opted for the caramel and chocolate desserts both of which were decadent and espressos all around.
Now on to the fashion part of the fashionplate. L’amico was pretty busy for a Friday afternoon, with both business lunches and leisurely lunches. The crowd was very mixed with young and old and tourists alike. The service was good although a little slow. See how I styled this kimono for this fashionplate and all the ootd deets below!
This week’s fashionplate features our new Jacqueline grey and blue striped kimono at a new Italian resto in the LES. Gelso & Grand the baby of former nightlife promoter Nima Garos. I like the open industrial layout and exposed break with the comfy red leather banquettes. I went with a bestie for catch up sess and weekday dinner and had made a res but probably didn’t have too as it was about half full. I ordered a Tuscan red and imagine to my surprise and delight when the gm comes out with complimentary champagne for both me and my friend to thank us for making a res. Kudos on that extra attention to customer service. Free drinks are even better than free food in my opinion. I drank the champers first and saved the red to drink with my food. We split the Brussels sprouts which were very yummy and had a kick with the addition of chilies. Then I went with lasagna since it’s made with eggplant and I love eggplant. It was pretty yummy and I almost finished the whole thing. My friend got the bolognese which was solid. All in all good service and food.
The clientele was a mix between downtown kids, a family, and some tourists. See the ootd deets of this fashionplate below. My look was comfy and casual!
