This week’s fashion plate is the reopened and recently moved Mission Chinese in Chinatown. They unfortunately don’t take reservations so be prepared for a very long wait. We were quoted 2 hours and it took 2 and half hours. I would definitely suggest getting there early when they open at 5 which we didn’t do. Or eat at the bar when you see an opening. We killed time getting drinks at the bar next door and then moving on to getting a bottle of sake at the bar downstairs. The bar downstairs was cool with the silver Mylar hanging from the ceilings. We also loved the pink banquettes, so Tasch.
The service had us torn as the host was not the friendliest and seemed bothered by everyone. Our waitress however was very sweet. On to the food. The complimentary dumplings might have been one of our favorite wings. We got another bottle of sake to split which was good and decided to share a few things. The pizza was just standard wood oven pizza, we expected some sort of twist on it but oh well, it still helped cool down the spice of the the spicy chicken wings. They were good, but be warned the dry spiced rub is extremely spicy and I eat chili peppers by themselves. My friend couldn’t stomach them, they should offer some sort of sauce on the side to dip them in for people not used to such extreme spice. We also split the lobster fried rice which was a huge portion and delish. The thrice cooked bacon is also a great dish.
Now on to the fashion part. The crowd is lots of downtown cool hipsters so think a lot of black everything, young and thin, lots of fedoras, but on the other hand you get a lot of “foodies” as well so there are older couples, families, and tourists galore that make for a very eclectic crowd. I decided to go ahead with mixing prints and settled on our cross print Chrissie bodysuit. See the full ootd fashionplate deets below.
