Fashionplate: Taylor Buffalo Plaid Flannel Tunic at Sons and Daughters

fashionplateThe latest fashionplate takes place at Sons and Daughters a fun spot in Meatpacking under the Highline.  Went for brunch with a friend to catch up recently and thought our Taylor buffalo plaid flannel tunic was the perfect in between layer for the finicky fall weather.   We opted for the aycd option for brunch as if you have 2 drinks you might as well.  I started with their version of a bloody which was tasty although I only really can have one or two bloodies.  I then switched to the hooked on a feeling which my friend got which was quite good.  I got the SD burger which was tasty and the fries were crispy and good too.  My friend got the veggie frittata which was also yummy.  There were mostly couples and some brunch dates, mostly young trendy peeps.  I will definitely be back for happy hour or dinner.  Check out how I styled this fashionplate below.

NYC Businesses Making a Difference: Tasch NYC & HIIP Hype

Tasch NYC Fall 2016 Collection

As a business owner in NYC, I can attest, it’s one of the most challenging cities to start a new business. With a large population full of creative people and entrepreneurs, it comes to no surprise how many new ventures begin each day in the big apple.

I interviewed two NYC business owners to get their thoughts on what it takes to make it in the most influential city in the world.

Tasch NYC

Tasch NYC is a fashion forward apparel line inspired and designed by Tasch Madeleine. I met Tasch, Founder & Designer, at her pop-up store event over the summer and had the pleasure of interviewing her last week. Tasch is a native New Yorker and was obsessed with style and fashion trends ever since she was a little girl. “I was always into fashion, ever since I was a kid. I coordinated outfits for my barbies and even gave fashion tips to my mom. I always had a knack for style and interest in fashion,” she explained.

Tasch started her fashion career as a merchandiser in the Garment District. She learned the ropes of styling through hard work and dedication to the craft. “I learned the ins-and-outs of the business, from managing seamstresses to designing contemporary women’s wear, which is also what I design today,” Tasch added.

After garnering years of experience in the fashion world, Tasch decided to take a leap of faith and start her own brand. As a native New Yorker, she thought it was imperative to support other NYC businesses. When she started to review potential vendors for her line, she decided to select a manufacturer right in her home-base of NYC. She started with three graphic t-shirts and it quickly grew from there.

Tasch NYC is a apparel line dedicated to women of all shapes and heights. All items are customizable for the best fit. “I like to use a good range of models because not everyone has the same body type. I think it’s important to cater to all women, not just one type,” Tasch said. The Fall 2016 line is now available to order on her website

Fashionplate- Pinstriped Shorts at PN Wood Fired Pizza

fashionplateThere are few things I love more than pizza and wine when the weather starts to get cold, or really pretty much anytime of the year.  For this fashionplate it’s all about the za and a fun little rocker chic look based around our brand new Spring/Summer 2017 pinstriped shorts.  Had ressies here during the week for a catch up dinner and started out strong with a nice Tuscan red.  We decided to split two of the pizzas and settled on one of the two more nutritious crusts for our base.  The salamino was a good traditional pizza with salmae.  We also got the tartufo pizza which had a great black truffle paste base. I enjoyed both of these.  The table next to us got the gnocchi in addition to pizza which I definitely want to try next time.  This spot is slightly hidden in Nomad with lots of other restaurants on the block.  Not super full, so you probably don’t need to make a reservation during the week.  Lots of dates and groups of friends catching up.  See how I styled this fashionplate below.
