This week’s fashionplate is a Sunday Funday edition at the new World in Chelsea. I wanted to watch the Jets v. Pats game someplace close by so thought it was the perfect time to check out World of Beer. We arrived a bit after 12 so it was pretty empty and got a spot right in front of the big TV. I started with a bloody and my friend got the speciality bloody with sausage in it. We then ended up switching over to ketel sodas and beers. They have a great beer selection and the bloodies came with IPA shooters. We ordered the buffalo wings and garlic Parmesan wings and loaded tater tots. Everything was good. It got slightly more crowded once the game started but not overly crowded and was pretty civilized for a bar on game day. Definitely would head back for a chill relaxing non club like or frat like setting. See how I styled my Lana joggers for this fashionplate below!
This week’s fashionplate features our eco-friendly and sustainable bamboo jersey dress in sky blue at Rosie’s a mexican spot off Bowery. I met a friend there for a early week catch up session and it was a warmer fall night perfect to still be rocking pastels. They have an adorable little tortilla station where they make all the tortillas and masa based things in house. We started off with some watermelon margaritas and then proceeded to split a bunch of things. We first started with the guac and the queso fundido, both of which were delish and yummy. We then got some more margs and scallop ceviche which was fresh but small. Then came out the remainder of the small plates. The fish tacos were solid but not a stand out. The quesadillas were yummy and filled with veggies. The memilitas were unique and spicy. The tlayuda oaxaquena was also very interesting. We basically loved everything we ordered and things were spicier than most mexican spots which is always a plus in my book.
The crowd was mostly neighborhood peeps and downtown hipsters. On a Monday night they were only half full, I will definitely be back to try out some different dishes. See how I styled our bamboo jersey dress for this fashionplate below.
Being a huge burger lover, my bestie and me had to check out the new location of JG Melon in the West Village for a fashionplate. The decor is a spot on newer and cleaner replica of the original upper east side location and a lot less crowded. I decided to rock our new mint green bamboo tee shirt. I had a glass or red and my bestie got a beer. I started with a cup of chili which was delish and perfect after a long chilly day. We then each got our bacon cheddar burgers medium rare which were yummy and split our cottage fries. This location has a lot more young downtown types. Now that fashion week is over I can get back to fashionplates that feature some of the great new S/S16 line. One of the bestie’s decided to have her bday party at new interactive hotspot- Sushi Roxx recently so I decided it was a perfect reason to get dolled up and wear our new raw silk leather trim pencil skirt. It’s attached to the hotel and a fairly large space with servers who dance and sing throughout the night. On the night her birthday party was Mob Wives also happened to be filming which made for an entertaining dinner before a night out on the town.
Since it was a birthday party we had a prix fix menu that was served family style with some appetizers, sushi and chicken teriyaki. I decided to go with a decent bottle of cold sake. Some stand out dishes for me were the fried avocado, seriously delish with the dipping sauce. The peppers were also good. I’m not much of a roll person but I sampled a few pieces that were solid, the usual crunchy spice tuna, salmon etc… This isn’t on 15 East level but it gets the job done if you like rolls. The chicken and broccoli were solid. They let our friend bring her own cake and everyone had a fab time so all in all a fun dining experience with a large group.
