This week’s fashionplate is a fun casual spot Mexique in the Nomad area. I decided to wear the shorts from the Christi two piece outfit for a perf summertime look. I have been to the takeout location many times before and this full service restaurant twice before. It’s a large place with a wooden bar and wood table and eclectic chairs and booths. I always need to get the queso here, it’s highly addictive. I also love their margaritas, although sometimes I am that girl who asks for Casamigos blanco with just lime juice and agave for a less sugary marg. My friends all love this place. I love the burnt end brisket bowl, the jamburrito and the mac and cheese. Last time we went my friend got the kale and greens bowl which is very yummy too! It’s the perfect place for a fun lunch or a quick dinner, they aren’t that crowded during dinnertime during the week.
The crowd is mostly professionals who work in the area. See how I paired the Christi shorts below.
This week’s fashionplate is a much more indulgent meal then the last few. It was one of those cooler summer days so I opted for our Raquel maxi skirt and a decadent french meal at La Gamelle on Bowery. This spot reminds me of a more casual not as crowded Pastis/Chereche Midi. Had a very yummy Bordeaux. My dining companion and both started with french onion soup, so yummy and comforting in this weather. Check out the cheese on it. We then proceeded to split some oysters and the whole grilled branzino with ratatouille and a side of fries. The oysters were standard. The branzino was tasty although we had deboned and there were still some tiny bones it. The fries were addicting. We then decided to yolo and get 2 desserts. He has a serious sweet tooth. We ended up getting the creme brulee and a chocolate mousse cake both of which were very yummy. The crowd was very neighborhoody and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We are participating in our first NYC fair this Saturday June 20 from 11am to 6pm at the Hester Street Fair. There will be a ton of other vendors especially delicious food vendors, jewelery, vintage and more so make an afternoon of it while getting some rad summer clothes on sale at the Tasch booth. We will be offering steep discounts on our current stock, and one of a kind samples starting at just $50. We will also be debuting our brand new bamboo jersey dresses perfect for summertime day to night dressing. So join us at the corner of Hester & Essex this Saturday!
This week’s fashionplate features our Goldie bodysuit at Irvington. Irvington is another light, farm-to-table restaurant located in Union Square at the W Hotel. My dining companion was already waiting at the bar and I decided to opt for rose and keep things light. I had a late snack so we decided to just split a few things. We got oysters, which were not that great they were east coast and kind of warm, not what you want raw seafood to be like at all. The roasted carrots with whipped ricotta were my favorite thing we got. We also got the sausage flatbread which was decent but not anything amazing. One weekday evening around 8 the restaurant was half empty, and seemed to be mostly hotel guests. I would keep this as more of a drinks and maybe an app type of spot. See my ootd deets below for this fashionplate.
Now that the weather is warming up I’m all about trying light healthy and farm to table restaurants for my fashionplate. I’d been wanting to try Cafe Clover for a while and one of my besties is into healthy eating so we decided to make a res for a Tuesday evening. Since it was a balmy night we decided to sit outside and people watch in the West Village. We got a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to split. The complimentary seed crackers and pea hummus were so yummy and much better than the usual bread basket I rarely touch. We then split the chilled asparagus salad which was very good. In the spirit of sharing we also split the larger portion of the ivory lentil risotto and the chicken breast. OMG is all I can say about the Ivory Lentil risotto, it is so good, I practically licked the bowl clean. The chicken with greens was also very good and simple. We were too full for dessert and my friend is allergic to shellfish and seafood, so next time I want to try the soft shell crab and the striped bass. Splitting one salad and two mains was the perfect amount of food for us.
Now on to the fashion part of the fashionplate. I decided to rock our floral Natalie blouse and purple plaid Janis shorts. See all the ootd deets below. The crowd was mostly trendy groups of girls and couples on dates. A very attractive and fit crowd.
