This week’s fashionplate is at avant garde Mexican spot Cosme in Flatiron. Even though it’s been open for months it’s still uber hard to get a reservation, you need to make one in advance unless you want to brave the bar when they first open. The blond wood bar is expansive and they have a huge tequila and mezacal selection which is pretty dope. I actually started with the expat martini which was good but I wanted to move on to margaritas after that. My friend and I decided to share a few of the small plates. We got the arctic char tostada which was yummy and perfectly flavorful. We also got the scallop ceviche which was my favorite, light and perfect. The enfrijolada was a more comforting dish that was also quite good. We then decided to get the steak tacos which were also good. Yes, the portions are small but we went there already knowing this. We ended with the chocolate ganache which was our least favorite part of the meal, it wasn’t bad just not as chocolatey as we like.
Now on to the fashion part of the fashionplate, the crowd was a mix of trendy couples on dates, young professionals expensing their meals and friends looking to enjoy Thursday night. Definitely dress to impress but keep it cool. See how I paired out new Katherine shirtdress below, the perfect day to night look to take you from work to dinner to Tribeca Film festival afterparties for the Adderall Diaries at American Cut.
This week’s fashionplate features our Patti leather t back top for the ootd at new Danny Meyer’s West Chelsea Southern inspired hot spot, Porchlight. Met up with some girlies on a Saturday night and it wasn’t as packed as expected, we sat at the large bar and proceeded to order cocktails. I just opted for bourbon, but one of my friends had champagne and another one had the Stay all night. We also sampled the house punch and the Sherry cobbler. The cocktails were all very good and the bartenders were attentive. We weren’t feeling the food menu so didn’t have a chance to try any of it but other people seemed to like it. They have a cute game room in the back with a bunch of boardgames which is cute. Will definitely be back for happy hour when it’s supposed to be super lively.
Now on the to the fashion part of the fashionplate. There were a lot of young professional types even though it was the weekend and couples and large groups playing games. The crowd skewed on the under 30/35 side and more casual attire.

This week’s fashionplate features our new Jacqueline grey and blue striped kimono at a new Italian resto in the LES. Gelso & Grand the baby of former nightlife promoter Nima Garos. I like the open industrial layout and exposed break with the comfy red leather banquettes. I went with a bestie for catch up sess and weekday dinner and had made a res but probably didn’t have too as it was about half full. I ordered a Tuscan red and imagine to my surprise and delight when the gm comes out with complimentary champagne for both me and my friend to thank us for making a res. Kudos on that extra attention to customer service. Free drinks are even better than free food in my opinion. I drank the champers first and saved the red to drink with my food. We split the Brussels sprouts which were very yummy and had a kick with the addition of chilies. Then I went with lasagna since it’s made with eggplant and I love eggplant. It was pretty yummy and I almost finished the whole thing. My friend got the bolognese which was solid. All in all good service and food.
The clientele was a mix between downtown kids, a family, and some tourists. See the ootd deets of this fashionplate below. My look was comfy and casual!
I wanted to let you all get a little insight into my thought process and inspo for my Fall Winter 2/15/2016 line.
Here’s a bit about my F/W15. My F/W15 collection is much more classic and structured than my previous S/S15 line. However, it still has that youthful, fun and edgy vibe with an impeccable eye for detail. I wanted to create some wardrobe basics that can be incorporated into your current wardrobe in heavy rotation, that’s why this collection is mainly black with some bursts of rich, jewel tones and neutrals. My winter motto for the most part is “All black everything” which this collection really reflects.
I was inspired by some of the classic movie stars of yesteryear, such as Natalie Wood, Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren among others. I truly love their classic style and natural confidence and sexiness they exude, which I feel like this collection reflects. I’ve also included modern touches to give the classics a chic and fresh update. Luxe sweater knits, oversized silk blouses, classic tartans and more are incorporated.
I hope you all love this collection as much as I do and find ways to mix and match pieces for day and night.
