This week’s fashionplate is at another NYC favorite that opened a second location, Parm the casual Torrisi take that opened a larger space on the UWS. Even with a much large space than the Nolita one there was still quite a wait on a weeknight in winter, so we made do drinking wine at the bar while waiting where I was lucky to snag a seat. Once we were seated me started with the mozzarella sticks which I love and the baked clams which were also pretty sick. I then had the chicken parm platter with baked ziti which is soooooo amazing. My dining companion had the meatball parm hero which is always a great choice.
This location of Parm had a lot more older local couples and people and wasn’t the hipster fashion foodie crowd that is found at the downtown location. So come wearing whatever you want. I bundled up my Suzi jogger pants since we’ve had a lot of subarctic weather. See the complete OOTD and fashionplate deets below.
This week’s fashion plate is the reopened and recently moved Mission Chinese in Chinatown. They unfortunately don’t take reservations so be prepared for a very long wait. We were quoted 2 hours and it took 2 and half hours. I would definitely suggest getting there early when they open at 5 which we didn’t do. Or eat at the bar when you see an opening. We killed time getting drinks at the bar next door and then moving on to getting a bottle of sake at the bar downstairs. The bar downstairs was cool with the silver Mylar hanging from the ceilings. We also loved the pink banquettes, so Tasch.
The service had us torn as the host was not the friendliest and seemed bothered by everyone. Our waitress however was very sweet. On to the food. The complimentary dumplings might have been one of our favorite wings. We got another bottle of sake to split which was good and decided to share a few things. The pizza was just standard wood oven pizza, we expected some sort of twist on it but oh well, it still helped cool down the spice of the the spicy chicken wings. They were good, but be warned the dry spiced rub is extremely spicy and I eat chili peppers by themselves. My friend couldn’t stomach them, they should offer some sort of sauce on the side to dip them in for people not used to such extreme spice. We also split the lobster fried rice which was a huge portion and delish. The thrice cooked bacon is also a great dish.
Now on to the fashion part. The crowd is lots of downtown cool hipsters so think a lot of black everything, young and thin, lots of fedoras, but on the other hand you get a lot of “foodies” as well so there are older couples, families, and tourists galore that make for a very eclectic crowd. I decided to go ahead with mixing prints and settled on our cross print Chrissie bodysuit. See the full ootd fashionplate deets below.
The last of the birthday extravaganza fashionplates is from my actual birthday at Tijuana Picnic, a new fun, casual and young Mexican resto/bar with Asian influences in the LES. Of course I had to be fancy and do it up with something custom that isn’t in my full line since it was my actual birthday and wore my hair in a chic topknot to change things up a bit. The bar is small so your best is bet is actually sitting at one of the tables. One of my girls and me were the first to arrive and were seated right away with our ressie and proceeded to order drinks right away, we started with the margaritas which were tasty and strong. As the rest of my friends started arriving, more drinks were ordered and we started ordering some apps to share. Of course we got the guac and salsa both of which were solid but not a stand out. The duck empanadas were super yummy, definitely would get again. The gorditas were also pretty good. The veggie tacos were also amazing. The tuna tacos were decent but not anything out of the ordinary. We loved the side of the corn since it was off the cob and easy to eat. After a few margs I switched to the Pancho Colada which was so yummy and made me feel like I was on a tropical island in December. Two of my friends decided to surprise me and got a fun dessert of the churros and the tres leches cake in a jar, so yummy and decadent. The service was spot on and the atmosphere and music were fun and lively a great place to celebrate or let loose! Now let’s move on to the fashion part of the fashionplate with the ootd deets.

The third birthday related Fashionplate is at new mega Venice styled resto Florian’s that 2 of my besties took me to for yet another bday celebration. It’s a large space in Gramercy and was not crowded on a Friday night so we were seated right away and drinking wine, champers and cocktails from the get go. The sculptures, while not my taste added to the Venetian charm of the place. We decided to start with the Burrata with Prosciutto di Parma which was very good. One of my friends and me decided to split the Veal Chop Parmigiana that was enormous, you can see only my half in front of me. It was very good and covered in lots of cheese. Our other friend had the short ribs and sausage which she also enjoyed. We were super full and declined dessert as we had lots of partying to do afterwards, I mean it’s Friday night birthday weekend.
Since this spot wasn’t uber crowded, it was honestly hard to gauge the crowd, but mostly couples, and groups of friends who seem to live in the area. Most people were dressed casually. But all black everything works in any occasion in my book. I couldn’t wait until February to debut my black sheer chiffon blouse, it’s honestly too gorg and might replace the Bianca as my go to everyday piece. See the complete Fashionplate OOTD deets below.
