THE SEASON’S MOST SOUGHT AFTER Fashion Week Ticket in Gotham!
This weeks fashionplate is a brunch time edition at the new and gorgeous White Street in Tribeca. This past weekend was the soft opening for brunch so I knew I wanted to check it out! I decided my Janis menswear inspired shorts were just the thing to wear on an Indian summer weekend.
The decor of White Street is sumptuous with black leather banquettes and large single paned windows. There is also a 1920s feel to it including the old school jazz they played. My dining companion and I started with the cinnamon rolls which were delicious and included white raisins in them. I decided to try their Mary Astor Bloody Mary which will definitely be added to my list of fav bloodies! My friend got steak and eggs with a side of bacon while I went for the chickpea and quinoa burger and swapped out my salad for their famous duck fat fries. The applewood bacon was on point although I wish it was more than 3 pieces. Lol. The fries were delish, crispy and decadent with some spice. The quinoa and chickpea burger came topped with avocado and an onion confit which made for a yummy and very filling veggie burger to be washed down with another bloody. The steak and eggs were also thoroughly enjoyed. We moved to the bar for one last drink where I had the empire cocktail which is prosseco based and equally delish.
Now on the fashion part of fashionplate. The crowd varies from young downtown kids, the TriBeCa stroller mafia, and nearby finance guys from Wall Street, so a mix of suits, casual cool and dressed to the nines for date night (or day). Since it was daytime, I opted for my new menswear Janis shorts in a luxe eggplant tweed. Full OOTDdeets are below!
On this rainy dreary day, I’m brightening up my day by fabric sourcing some fab new fabrics right here in the garment district for F/W16. It might seem like F/W15 is in stores now and S/S15 shows just happened but in the fashion industry that means we are already sourcing and sampling for F/W16. I love using great luxurious natural fibers like this great eggplant silk, black georgette, winter white raw silk and hand beaded embroidered panel. Stay tuned for what these amazing fabrics will be turned into!
For a nice dinner out at one of the most classic New York steakhouses, Old Homestead, I decided to dress a little more ladylike than usual for this OOTD Our gorgeous and timeless Grace dress was the perfect thing to wear to feel ladylike but still keep my own edginess with the turquoise shantung fabric. I managed to tuck away oysters, a filet rare, truffle mac&cheese and spinach and still felt comfy in my structured dress. See the complete outfit of the day deets below.
For more downtown nighttime fun OOTD I decided to rock the new Christi Two Piece Romper, from the S/S15 collection, that’s basically the most adorable crop top and loose fitting elastic waist shorts that almost look like a skirt from some angles. As it’s truly Fall and getting colder I decided to make this springtime look a little more nighttime and sweater weather worthy for a girlfriend’s birthday party. I love fresh yummy veggies from the farmers market and I also love mexican food and cheese. As fall is really here, I decided to make healthy and filling Mexican dinner at home for some friends while relaxing in my striped Hampton top. Check out the recipe below and feel free to add your own take to it! Once a month I will be doing a Fit Food with Tasch series with healthy recipes with locally sourced ingredients because I believe food and fashion have a place together! These recipes include ingredients that are as colorful as Tasch’s tees :)
Tasch’s Veggie Tortilla Casserole
tablespoons vegetable oil
1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium jalapeño, seeded and diced
1 medium red bell pepper, seeded and diced
1 medium green bell pepper, seeded and diced
1/2 tablespoon chili powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 tablespoon pepper
pinch of Goya sazon seasoning
1 cup frozen or canned corn kernels
1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes or small jar spicy salsa
1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 avocado diced
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar
8-10 corn tortillas
2 cups verde sauce jarred or make your own like I did
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Coat an 8-by-8-inch casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-low heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the onions have softened. Add the bell peppers, chili powder, Goya sazon, pepper and salt to the skillet and stir to combine. After about 5 minutes add drained beans and corn and cook for another 5 minutes before adding the salsa verde sauce. Bring to boil and simmer on low another 10 minutes to reduce sauce.
Pour a thin layer of veggie mixture into casserole dish, top with 4-6 corn tortillas, half of shredded cheese mixture and repeat veggie mixture, add more corn tortillas then add tomatoes or salsa to top and top with remainder cheese. Bake covered with foil for 30 minutes and then remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes
Sprinkle diced avocado, jalapenos and sour cream on top and serve.
Hell yea, I love me some fried chicken and champagne. So of course I had to organize a fun dinner with friends at one of the newest spots in town that caters to FRIED CHICKEN and CHAMPAGNE! Birds&Bubbles was the perf place to check out for my second Fashionplate series! I do love eating healthy at times, I swear one of the fashionplates eventually will be something a little less fatty but for now it’s Fall and elastic waistbands are in. Lol.
You definitely need a res, in this little mini teeny tiny Tasch sized southern jewel box size of a restaurant. This spot might be slightly hard to find as it’s across from the park on Forsyth and down a narrow staircase. Four of us got here at 8:30 for our res and we had to wait a bit since our initial res was for only 3, whatever more time to start sampling some champers. They have a variety of lesser known champagnes which is kind of cool way to find some new favs, right?
Now on to the food, once we were seated in the outdoor patio complete with cute stringed lighting and mason jar everything we proceeded to order more champers and a vodka soda for the boy of the group. We started out with two orders of the pimento cheese croquettes (there are 3 in an order heads up) and the tomato pie. The pimento cheese croquettes which were fried cheesy goodness which is obvs right up my ally. The tomato pie was solid but not the winner of the app game. After that we ordered the Winner Winner chicken dinner which was a bucket of fried chicken (8 pieces) a bread basket and 3 sides. We decided to f*ck veggies that night and yolo and went with the vidalia onion souffle, mac&cheese, and jalapeno cheese grits. I took a breast because I’m a fatty at heart and it’s the biggest and I didn’t feel like dealing with bones. This fried chicken is definitely legit. It’s crispy and well seasoned on the outside and tender on the inside. Of all my dining companions we liked the mac&cheese the best of all the sides, it has a cracker crust and the right amount of cheese and cream. The jalapeno cheddar grits were yummy but one friend thought the spice was a bit too overwhelming. The vidalia onion souffle was just meh. Out of the bread basket the biscuits won out as our fav carb. The brioche rolls were a close second. More champers was in order at this point and time for dessert. We split the birthday cake in a mason jar and the banana pudding. Did I mention everything comes in a mason jar here, adorable! I love banana pudding so there was no way I was leaving here without trying this, omg this was amazeballs, for real, we had to order a second one, one of my friends was OBSESSED with the crunchies! The birthday cake was a white cake with sprinkles and white frosting, yummy but super sweet. By this time we were stuffed and needed to be tucked into a mason jar and rolled out of the resto.
Now that you got the food down, let’s get to fashion part. This resto has a bit of a haute southern yet homey feel. So nothing too dressy, leave your loubs at home. The crowd for the most part is young, hipster kids from the LES/E VIl. Lots of skinny jeans, flannels, all black everything and the like. I decided to buck the trend and not wear pants but elastic was a complete necessity for me. See the complete outfit of the day deets that I paired with my Joan romper below.

I absolutely adore bodysuits, they look great with high waisted pants and skirts without the extra bulk puckering out unattractively. And I just love the cute and funky black and white cross print in the most amazing stretch knit fabric!
